Welcome to The Sacred Medicine Podcast where we explore how to overcome chronic illnesses using functional medicine. Your host, Margaret Romero NP-C, is a Columbia-trained functional medicine nurse practitioner who overcame lupus nephritis using functional medicine and hasn't had a flare in over a decade. She shares tips and advice that won't be found in a conventional medicine setting. Her passion is to guide women in overcoming lupus and empowering women to lead their healthiest lives. She also loves sharing about sacred rituals and spirituality to help de-stress and encourages women to tap into their intuition.

On today's show, Amylee Amos, MS, RDN, IFMCP, is here. She is the Founder of the Amos Institute, a Registered Dietician, and a Nutritionist. Research studies show that 2/3 of women are affected by Alzheimer's and the numbers are only growing. Dr. Amos discusses what causes this cognitive impairment and the ways to reverse them. We discuss which foods are beneficial and which ones to stay away from. She also discusses which tests can reveal if someone is at a higher risk, as well as, the labs to ask for from your doctor.
