This week my very dear friend, Margaret Shrum, is sharing her adventures with dating 75 men. She would share her titillating stories with me after every date. Totally drool worthy.  I was thrilled when she agreed to be a guest on my podcast to discuss her journey. Margaret is a Love and Sensuality Stylist, creating workshops and consulting for her brand, Vitamin L. Living in Seattle since 2014, she is currently writing a book about compassionate dating with intention and humor.

If you’ve ever thought about dating multiple people at once or may be timid about the thought of it, listen up, you’ll learn it's really not what you might think or expect. It’s actually courageous and sexy AF!

When I came across the book, “How to Stop Feeling Like Shit: 14 Habits That Are Holding You Back From Happiness,” by Andrea Owen, I had many questions. Andrea is a certified life coach who helps high-achieving women let go of perfectionism, control, and isolation and choosing courage and confidence instead. She joins me on the podcast this week. So, I had the opportunity to ask her the questions that came to mind when I first saw her book. Most specifically I wondered if there were downsides to being a strong and empowered woman, things I felt were part of my DNA. We chat about that and more.

We jammed on:

  • Why being strong may have its downsides
  • Why ambitious women are naturally hyper-independent and why we need to allow help from others
  • What being in control 24/7 really means
  • Can we really give zero fucks about everything?

I have a habit of writing down a list of 12 things I am grateful for each day. If I know I’m going to be out in nature, I will recite them out loud. There’s just something about saying them out loud that brings more reverence to those blessings.

Do you journal as well? Would you consider journaling daily? Try it. Report back with me. I’d love to know how it has changed your life.

When there are times of pain or confusion in your life, can you allow your vision to become bigger than your pain? Moments of limbo or when you are trying to figure out what's next can be painful and daunting.  During those times, acknowledge your vision when it comes knocking. And, then allow it to grow bigger than the pain.

This week is all about doing one thing to reach out to a friend that you haven't seen or heard from in a long time. Being the one who reaches out, perhaps with a simple text message or  by mailing a card, is a sweet gesture and goes a long way. I share more examples in this week's Wisdom for the Weekend.

Be the one who loves enough to be the first one to reach out. You wont regret it.

What are you hating on right now? Is it your job, your partner, or maybe being single? How about loving the shit out of whatever that thing is right now? Yes, party with what you've got. Be grateful for it, it's most likely temporary. You will eventually get that new partner, lover, job, car, or whatever it is your heart desires.

This week’s Wisdom for the Weekend is a quote from a book that I absolutely adore. It happens to be one of the books I reach for, for daily inspiration. Inspired and Unstoppable: Wildly Succeeding in Your Life’s Work! By Tama Kieves.

The quote is: “It’s not about knowing how to make it happen or being “worthy”. You didn’t choose your dream. It chose you. Say yes to your only reality and unimaginable adventure. Say yes to the ride. You belong in the life of your dreams. And you don’t belong anywhere else.

I am so excited to share my interview with Tama Kieves, next week on the podcast.  Stay tuned!

I decided to go ahead with a planned vacation after spending countless days at the hospital bedside with my dad. My body couldn't handle it anymore; my adrenals exhausted, and I was emotionally burnt out. I was experiencing sleepless nights, not eating, and felt like things were spiraling out of control. So while it was a very hard decision to move forward with the planned vacation, it most definitely is a well deserved break for my body and my soul. So, this episode is a reminder to you to take a break before you break down.

"We Accept the Love We Think We Deserve." This quote was a game changer for me. Once I began the journey inwards of deep self-love, I no longer accepted measly BS from the men I dated. I began to recognize the patterns that held me back for years.  Do you find yourself falling into the same patterns? Well, that's the topic of this week's Wisdom for the Weekend.
